How to Revitalize Ceramic Coating
Revitalizing Ceramic Coatings: A Comprehensive Guide

Understanding Coating Degradation:
Over time, it’s natural for ceramic coatings to appear to lose some of their hydrophobic properties. This can be attributed to micro contaminants that gradually embed themselves into the coating’s surface. These contaminants, often invisible to the naked eye, compromise the coating’s ability to repel water effectively. As a result, the once- prominent hydrophobic properties may seem diminished, leading to frustration and concern among users. It’s crucial to recognize this phenomenon and address it proactively to maintain the coating’s optimal performance and longevity.
Coating Revitalization: Dispelling Misconceptions:
It’s important to dispel the misconception that a loss of hydrophobic properties signifies coating failure. In reality, even when the coating appears to have diminished hydrophobicity, it is likely still providing effective protection to the surfaces. Rather than viewing this as a sign of failure, it’s crucial to understand that the coating simply needs revitalization to restore its optimal performance. By proactively addressing this issue, users can prolong the lifespan of the coating and continue to enjoy its protective benefits for an extended period.
Revitalizing Your Coating: The Marine Ceramics Solution:
To effectively revitalize your ceramic coating and restore its hydrophobic properties, we recommend using Marine Ceramics - Marine Ultra Polish. This specially formulated polish is designed to gently remove embedded contaminants from the coating’s surface, rejuvenating its performance. Depending on the severity of contamination, you can choose between two methods: manual application using a clean microfiber applicator for minor contamination, or machine polishing with a power polisher equipped with a soft polishing pad for more stubborn contaminants. Follow the instructions provided with Marine Ceramics - Marine Ultra Polish for optimal results.
Following the revitalization process, it’s essential to maintain the coating’s performance over time. We recommend incorporating the scheduled use of Marine Ceramics - Ceramic Shine & Maintenance into your maintenance routine. This specialized product helps to prolong the hydrophobic properties of the coating and enhances its durability against environmental factors. For best results, apply Marine Ceramics - Ceramic Shine & Maintenance after the revitalization process using Marine Ultra Polish. By following this comprehensive approach to maintenance, you can ensure that your ceramic coating continues to provide long-lasting protection and maintain its pristine appearance.
DIRECTIONS TO REVITALIZE COATINGS
FOR: GELCOAT, PAINT, GLASS, & METAL
DIRECTIONS:
- Apply a small amount of Marine Ultra Polish to a soft foam
- Choose a small (3’ x 3’) manageable section and gently work the polish into the surface using light pressure and slow, overlapping motions.
- Allow polish to clean the surface and enhance the gloss, making sure not to press too hard or over polish the Keep in mind that you goal is to only “clean and polish” the surface.
- Use our Blue Pearl microfiber towel to lightly buff the treated section and remove any excess polish residue to reveal the revitalized surface.
- Clean the surface with Surface Prep & Bond to clean and remove any polish
- Finally, re-treat the revitalized surface with either a fresh coat of our premium ceramic coatings, or by applying our Ceramic Shine & Maintenance and buff off.

- Thoroughly clean the surface with the Marine Foam Cannon Soap and dry completely.
- Spot clean and remove any scuffs or stains on areas that may require extra attention with our ceramic coating safe, Black Streaks & Stains.
- After the surface has been cleaned and all stains removed, apply our Surface Prep & Bond to decontaminate and prepare the surface for ceramic coating treatment.
- Finally, re-treat the surface with either a fresh coat of our premium ceramic coating, Inflatable Boats & Vinyl, or by applying our Ceramic Shine & Maintenance and buff off.
